Hello and welcome to the new home of Savvy Girl Money. My official blog and tax platform where financial education meets real life. Whether you’re brand new here or you’ve been following along for the last nine years (soon to be ten this October!), I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m AShira, a wife, mom, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), financial activist, and educator. I've spent my entire professional career in the tax industry, and I’m deeply passionate about helping women, families, and communities build wealth and confidence through financial education.
How It All Started
My journey began at PNC Bank in the trust tax department, where I earned my CPA license and got my first taste of working with high-net-worth clients. I eventually transitioned into the wealth management space, and while I loved the industry and the client base, I knew I needed broader experience in public accounting.
So, I pivoted. I spent the next seven years in public accounting, sharpening my skills, learning the ins and outs of the tax code, and expanding my knowledge. Eventually, I returned to wealth management to lead my firm’s tax department, which has been the perfect blend: a stable 9–5 career I love, paired with my passion for financial education through Savvy Girl Money.
My Why
From a young age, I was determined to understand money. I majored in Accounting in college to learn the language of business, and I devoured every personal finance book, podcast, and blog I could find. In my twenties, I launched Savvy Girl Money as a way to share what I was learning and to create a financial hub for my family and community.
I didn’t just want to be the girl who talked about money. I wanted to be the one who lived it.
The Debt-Free Journey That Changed Everything
In 2017, I kicked off my “Debt Free Journey” with a goal to pay off $25,000 of student loans in 24 months. And I did it. Those two years taught me discipline, focus, and just how powerful a plan and some accountability can be.
But I wasn’t done.
With that momentum, I set another goal: pay off $25,000 in credit card and auto loan debt, this time in just 12 months. It wasn’t easy. It came with sacrifices. But with support from my family and my community cheering me on, I made it happen.
In just three years, I paid off $50,000 in debt. I felt like I had climbed the tallest mountain and along the way, I shared my entire journey on Instagram, growing the beautiful Savvy Girl Money community into what it is today.
What’s Next? A Million Dollar Net Worth 💰
Today, I’m on a new mission: to build a $1 million net worth and I’m taking you along for the ride, just like I did during my debt-free journey. All while being the best wife and mom I can be to my two amazing girls, Skylar and Sevyn.
But this blog isn’t just about me. It’s about you.
I’ll be sharing real-life money tips, tax advice, and wealth-building strategies that you can apply to your own financial journey. Whether you’re just getting started or chasing a new goal, this space is here to support you every step of the way.
If you’re ready to slay your financial goals, sis…
You’re in the right place.
Let’s grow, thrive, and build wealth together.
xoxo,
AShira
